Ok, so there was nothing about killer sharks there, but it made you read the letter of his pretty carefully didn't it? Also, remember all upcoming competition dates can be found at anytime on the competition calendar.

Announcement for Seniors & Masters
19th March 2009
Dates and venues for this years upcoming Seniors & Masters Ocean National Championships have been announced by SLSGB.

The event will be see the Seniors & Masters compete at Fistral Beach, Newquay between 20th & 23rd August 2009 (Inclusive).

These dates and more can all be seen on the competition calendar.

Ski Training Day
26th February 2009
There's a Ski training day for Juniors, Seniors & Masters just around the corner at Exmoor - Sounds good... right? Dave Worms has all the information:

"Sunday 15th March

Youth, Seniors & Masters
(Nippers can come and run around while mum & dad have a go!!!)

Ski Training Day at Wimbleball Lake & Watersports Centre, Exmoor
10am until 2-3pm
Minimal cost to cover launching fees at the lake.

All club ski's including doubles will be at the lake and instructors will be on hand to teach you whether new to ski's or had a go before and want to improve technique.
If you have your own ski come along and use it.
We will probably take up a few racing boards so people can have a go on those without those nasty waves getting in the way.

There are hot showers at the centre in case you fall in and get cold, but that won't happen!

Any volunteers to help, either coaching/instructing, driving club van with trailer or transporting kit themselves please contact Dave Worms.
"

The Seniors... and that SuperClub stuff
1st October 2008
If you weren't sure on the subject, Saunton Sands recently reclaimed the title of SuperClub for 2008 following the Seniors Nationals results! Here's some reading on the subject (Of which you may also see in your copy of the North Devon Journal too!):

"A sunny Whitesands beach near St David’s in far West Wales hosted the British Senior Surflifesaving championships this weekend, the final ocean event of 2009 where not only senior titles would be fought over but also the winners of the Superclub title awarded to the team scoring the most points over all ages in all National events this year would be decided.

Cornish Club Portreath took the Senior title for the fifth year in a row with 1177 points winning both female and male events with Woolacombe second on 913 and Saunton Sands third on 793.

With Saunton having won the Ocean Nippers and Masters events and Woolacombe the Juniors earlier this year but with points in those events only counting for a fifth of those awarded to the seniors the announcement of the Superclub title was very tense but Saunton Sands with a total of 3642 points won the title back from holders Woolacombe on 3045 with Portreath third, Perranporth fourth and St Ives fifth.

Standouts for Saunton included Captain James Dallyn retaining the open Surf Swim title and the Men retaining the Taplin relay “The event every club wants to win” comprising Surfski (Richard Folland), Racing board (Gary SInkevicius), Swim (James Dallyn) and run (Matt Smith).

Both Woolacombe and Saunton had three members each missing representing GB juniors in Holland.
